Q: What are the program's dates?
Summer school will operate Mondays through Fridays from June 29, 2009 until August 5, 2009 for elementary, middle, and high schools. DCPS will also run a Career Pathways program for high school students who are also enrolled in the Department of Employment Services (DOES) Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP). This program will operate from June 22, 2009 until August 5, 2009.

Q: What are the program's operational hours?
Elementary School: Students in grades K-6 will attend summer school from 8:30 am to 12 pm; breakfast will be served from 8 to 8:30 am and lunch will be served from 12 to 1 pm. The DC One afterschool program runs from 1 to 6:30 pm.

Middle School: Students in grades 7 and 8 will attend summer school from 8:30 am to 12 pm; breakfast will be served from 8 to 8:30 am and lunch will be served from 12 to 1 pm. There is no DC One afterschool program offered for middle school students.

High School: Students in grades 9-12 attending only summer school who are taking one full credit course will attend either a morning or afternoon session (8:30 to 11:30 am or 12:00 to 3 pm) depending on the schedule and availability of courses. Students enrolled only in summer school taking two credit courses will end at 3 pm. Based on the needs of the student, a third period will also be offered from 3:15 p.m. to 6:15 p.m.

Students who attend Extended School Year (ESY) and Compensatory Education programs may have varied dismissal times. Contact the office of Special Education for details. Pat Young will assist, and be contacted at (202) 442-4800.
